Obituary of Robert Eugene Wilson
Robert “Rob” Wilson was born in Sapulpa, OK on May 15, 1963, to Robert and Donna (Belk) Wilson. He passed away at his home in Sapulpa on January 13, 2024, at the young age of 60.
He attended Tulsa Adventist Academy from 1st grade through his sophomore year. He then transferred to Ozark Adventist Academy his junior year. He attended Sapulpa High School where he graduated in 1981. Like all the other kids in the family, he started working at an early age for his uncle Pete at Ace Auto. After graduating High School, he followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and started his adventure in trucking and running equipment. In May of 1989 he married the mother of his daughter, Lori Cochran. On February 3, 1990, he welcomed his first real love into the world. She was his world, and everyone knew that. He owned his own dirt hauling company (C&W Trucking) with his father-in-law Tommy Cochran for a few years. He followed his love for boat racing and travelling on the road from 1995-1998, where he worked as the transporter and mechanic for Sam Carmichael on his Intimidator drag boat. Being on the road away from his family was too much for him, so he quit and started Double R Trucking, hauling dirt locally. He started working for a few different friends who owned different trucking/equipment companies over the next several years.
The second love of his life, his granddaughter Makayla James came into this life on October 4, 2017. He loved doing anything that kept him active, whether that be going to the lake with family and friends, bowling leagues, going to the drag strip, boat races, water skiing, snow skiing or just playing pranks on everyone.
Robert was a member of the Sapulpa Seventh-Day Adventist Church his whole life, and a member of the Elks Lodge for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Wilson, grandparents Jewel ad Helen Wilson and George and Josie Belk.
He is survived by his mother Donna (Belk) Wilson of Sapulpa, daughter Miranda Miller and husband Jimmy Don of Sapulpa, granddaughter Makayla Miller, sister Pam Wilson-Drake of Jenks, niece Megan McGinnis and husband Joe of Lafayette, LA, great-niece Emily McGinnis, and a multitude of family and friends.
The family requests that you wear bright colored clothing, and jeans as opposed to dark, formal clothing.
