Obituary of Wallace Dudley Kendall
Wallace Dudley Kendall died at age 61 on Monday, February 12th in Tulsa. He was with family when he departed this life and he was reunited with family in Heaven.
Wally was born March 18, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to David and Evelyn Kendall. He was the youngest of four children and grew up in Tulsa, Cleveland, Ponca City, and Catoosa.
He attended schooling through the eighth grade, finishing at Wright Elementary in Tulsa before entering the workforce.
Growing up, Wally enjoyed swimming and taking summer camp trips. He loved to bowl and competed in a league in Tulsa where he won many trophies. He was also a talented Special Olympian, winning ribbons in broad jump and running events.
He attended Harvard Baptist Church in Tulsa for many years and worked at the Sertoma Shop before moving to Claremore where he worked for Home of Hope until his retirement.
Wally was a music lover and a huge fan of Elvis Presley. He loved to dance and enjoyed two-stepping at the dances hosted by the Sertoma Shop. He liked to do word-search puzzles and coloring books and was a big fan of classic television shows like Andy Griffith.
He also loved his Dallas Cowboys and supported both the Oklahoma Sooners and OSU Cowboys and Cowgirls.
Always a gentle and sweet spirit, Wally will be remembered for his kindness and his positive, friendly demeanor. Growing up, he was as near to perfect as a boy could be, and in adulthood he was a beloved uncle and was very popular with the residents and workers at his retirement community in Okemah.
Wally was preceded in death by his father, David Kendall, and his step-dad, Richard Ward.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Kendall of Cleveland; his sister, Teresa Emigh, of Sand Springs; his brothers Richard and Kelly Kendall, of Cleveland; and six nephews: Joey, David, Jake, Lance, Bryan, and Scott.
Services will be Saturday, February 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa.
