Please share a memory of Jesse to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jesse Eugene Beauchamp, 78, passed away on July 3, 2010 at Maplewood Care Center, Tulsa. He was born August 24, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ruby and Arthur Beauchamp. As a youth Jesse was industrious. He worked on his uncle's farm in Grove, Oklahoma, was an usher at the old Orpheum Theater in Tulsa and a pinsetter at Huckett's bowling alley. Jesse graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1950 and soon after enlisted in the Army to serve our country in Korea. After his tour of duty, he was sent by mistake to Granite City, Illinois Engineer Depot, where he visited the USO club. There he met his wife, Hattie Mae Keel. They were married in October 1953 and moved to Tulsa. They divorced in 1982. In the 1960s Jesse became a Green Beret, worked as a civilian employee of the Army, and was Command Sergeant Major in the Army Reserves. He retired from the military in 1973. Always hard-working, after leaving the Army, Jesse was a long haul truck driver, tour bus driver, Tulsa city bus driver and school bus driver. His last job was as a beloved maintenance employee of Union Public Schools. Jesse was always there for friends and family in need. He had our back. He was a loving and attentive father, showing up for softball games (because he was often coaching), school events and recitals. Jesse is survived by his daughters Marcia Beauchamp and Cheryl Hull both of Tulsa, Cheryl's husband Bill Hull, grandsons Justin and Michael Hull, both of Stillwater, Oklahoma, companion Mary (Rosie) Edelman, Tulsa, brothers; Jack Beauchamp of Vinita and Larry Beauchamp of Tulsa. Beloved dog Lady, extended family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
