Obituary of Mabel Colene Shuler

Please share a memory of Mabel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mabel Colene Shuler, 72, of Sapulpa, Ok finished her race and went to be with the Lord at her home on March 8, 2024.

Colene was born on May 18, 1951, to Henry and Alene Taber. She graduated from Sapulpa High School. After high school, she married Howard Hampton Sr., and they built a life together in Sapulpa. Colene worked as a nurse for many years and took great pride in the care she was able to provide her patients.

Howard and she raised their two children while trying out many houses in the area. Eventually, they found a property at 29 South Mayfield. They fell in love with the property and were led to purchase it by faith, and to donate the adjoining land to Faith in Grace Church. Colene loved her church family and would often tell the story of how God gave her the house and land.

After Howard went to be with the Lord, Colene started Taking trips to Canton and buying and selling quilts and various other goods at the Saturday market. She met Gerald and they grew closer and eventually got married. They loved spending time in God’s word going over various verses and talking about what they meant for their lives.

The last few years of Colene’s earthly life were spent in a wheelchair after suffering a stroke. This period was tough at times and presented many struggles for her daily life. Even in the face of it all she had to deal with, Colene never lost her faith and stance that one day she would be healed. She remained a strong, faithful woman throughout her life no matter what she faced.

Now, she is reaping the reward for her stance and life with God. She no longer has any voids or trials that she must navigate through!

Colene was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Alene Taber, husband Howard Hampton Sr., brother Henry Taber Jr, and nephew Matthias (Matt) Enlow.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Shuler, sisters Avalene Bellamy, Joylene Taber and Darlene Wefer, son Howard Hampton Jr., daughter Shelly Fickett, daughter in law Margo Hampton, son in law Kyle Fickett, grandchildren Isaiah Hampton, Elizabeth Hampton, Sarah Hampton, Shae Fickett and Seth Fickett, and great grandchild Eleanor Hampton, and many nieces and nephews. She loved spending quality time with family and friends.
