Obituary of David L Lawrence
In Loving Memory of
David (Skip) Louis Lawrence
January 19,1951 – March 16,2024
Skip was born to Peggy and Jack Lawrence on Jan 19, 1951. Skip grew up in Sapulpa and loved to share its history with those that would listen. He graduated from Sapulpa High School and worked at the Sapulpa golf course. He attended TU University and OU University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree. He experienced many places in the world and among sharing his encounters, he encouraged others to explore if given the opportunity
After college he proudly joined his father at the family business City Drug Store. Skip was involved in all areas of the store as well as delivering medications to those unable to come into the pharmacy. Besides his work at the drug store, he was an active member in his community.
It was on a pharmacy delivery where he met the love of his life Susan Byrnes and her two daughters: Stacey and Tammy. Susan shared her love and knowledge for horses with Skip and with his enjoyment he obtained his training license. Many years later they parted ways but their relationship remained uniquely close and he never stopped loving her or being a Dad.
After retiring Skip worked part time at Sapulpa Youth Shelter and valet at the Casino. Skip has always enjoyed music and art. He played drums, guitar and the hand bells in the First Presbyterian Church choir and had the opportunity to study art abroad.
Skip was very active in his grandchildren’s lives, sporting events and family functions as well as having his dinning dates with best friend Mac.
Skip never complained of the medical issues he was faced with. He handled them with self-pride and dignity and that is how he departed this life at his home on March 16,2024.
