Obituary of Cleo Zella Conley
Cleo Zella Conley passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 94. She was born on October 20, 1929, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Charles and Zella Clark. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1947.
She married John W. Conley Jr. on June 19, 1948. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage and one son, David W. Conley.
Cleo’s favorite hobbies included crocheting, knitting, tatting, quilting, china painting, fishing, swimming, and feeding cattle on their ranch. Her fondest memories were her driving a tractor trailer across the country with her husband John. She was the first qualified female driver for United Van Lines.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Sapulpa, Garden Club, and Sapulpa Historical Society for many years, and she volunteered as a “pink lady” at St. John in Sapulpa with her lifelong friend, Barbara Hampton.
Cleo blessed many people by teaching crochet and tatting techniques. She won many awards for her quilts at Creek County Fairgrounds. One of her Indian Chief Afghans is displayed at the Sapulpa Historical Society.
Cleo is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Zella Clark, husband John W. Conley Jr., brothers Archie Clark, Wilbur Clark and wife Evelyn, sisters Evelyn, Jane and husband Jo, Fran Clark, Doris and husband George Luraski.
She is survived by son David and wife Allison, grandchildren Debra and husband Terry, Levi and fiancée Megan, great grandchildren Tara and husband Colton, Tanner and Wife Rhiannen, great, great grandchildren Kiley and Kennedy Bennett, Ava and Stetson Rhoades, Emma and Reed Hill, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
