Angel Smoot

Angela Alma Papa was born May 3, 1972, to Richard and Joyce Papa in Lynn, Massachusetts, County of Essex.

The family moved to California and, later, relocated to the Sapulpa, OK, area when Angel was very young. They hoped the climate change would give this tiny twin the opportunity for a healthier life since she was born with undeveloped lungs and asthma.

Angel attended school and graduated from Sapulpa High School. She resided here at the time of her death.

She passed from this life April 12, 2024, in St. John’s Hospital, Tulsa, OK, surrounded by her family and friends. Angel was 51 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Angel is survived by her daughter, Jessi Smoot and grandchildren Cody and Chloe of Mounds.

Also surviving are her twin brother, Richie Papa (Ashley) of Tulsa and his children Amaree and Anthony Papa (Kylin), Breanna Evitt (Kyle & children Trey & Aiyana), Jaquesha Spencer (children Chase, Tiontae, Jayden & Desmond).

Her sister, Sheila Lombardo and children Cassy Wyckoff (Jason & Lily) of Tulsa and Paige Annunziata (J. D., Ellie, Renly  & Gio) of Beaver Creek, Ohio.

Special gratitude to Angel’s Warriors, Rob Morgan and DeAnn Dudley, who stayed until the end and gave nothing but love and strength to her and to Jessi.

Angel’s bright light will be missed by all who loved and appreciated her happy spirit, zest for life and loving nature.

She loved almost everything and everyone. Her music and food probably rank high ... but, she loved being a mother and a grandmother and she was very good at that assignment. She loved her family and friends and was available to help anyone who needed it.  She also loved animals and had a special connection to them.

A hard worker, she found various jobs to earn money.  At a young age she had a paper route, pulled weeds and mowed for neighbors. She also found work as a waitress, cashier, Gift Shop Manager and later she painted offices and home interiors. She loved pretty things and enjoyed crafting and making home decor.

She seemed fearless, attacking every project with a strong will and determination...exactly as she fought her health issues her entire life.
