Obituary of William Stephen Giacomo

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William Stephen “Bill” Giacomo passed peacefully from this life on the morning of May 25th, 2024.  Bill, as he was known by all, was born in Krebs, OK on July 27th, 1938 to Pietro “Pete” and Elise Giacomo.  When he was 3, the family moved to Sapulpa, OK, where Bill lived most of his life.  Graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1956, he attended Oklahoma A & M and worked for the S D Giacomo Company.  Bill became his own business owner, when he opened A1 Heating and Air Conditioning taking care of Sapulpa and the surrounding area’s climate control needs till his eventual retirement.  Always ready with a smile and a joke, Bill sincerely cared for his hometown and served as city commissioner from 1982-1984, but his two greatest pleasures came from spending time with family and being in the outdoors.

When it came to family and friends, Bill would give freely of his time, whether it was to surprise his nephews with a toboggan ride during a winter snow, or work into the night helping to fix the front-end of a car.  Bill loved to tinker with things, and one of his biggest hobbies was his remote-controlled airplanes.  He built many scale models and enjoyed taking them out to fly.  But Bill’s passion was his love of the outdoors.  Whether it was fishing, hunting upland birds, or chasing whitetail deer.  Bill was always ready to go, be it to Flint Ridge, or the farm, or Willhite’s or to the cabin, he loved to spend time with people doing things he enjoyed.  Bill was an accomplished archer, being a member of the Oneida Bows pro staff, he competed well in state and regional archery tournaments and combining his archery skills with his pursuit of whitetail deer, he was also a member of the Pope and Young Club.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jeanne McCreary, and his daughter Carrie and great-nephew, Andrew.  He is survived by his sisters: Mary Louise Boyne (and her husband, Don), Jan Scott (and her husband, Randy), and Phyllis Schlottman (and her husband Bernard) as well as 10 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews, and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of Green Hill Funeral Home of Sapulpa and visitation will be Monday, June 3rd from noon to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.  Viewing and the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 3rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Sapulpa and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4th,  at 11:00 am with internment at Green Hill Cemetery immediately following.
