Chuck was a friend and long-time newspaper colleague in Oklahoma. During one our Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation meetings we were discussing how to raise money from a tight-fisted fellow publisher. At some point in the proceedings another newspaper publisher suggested we call Chuck Lake, saying "Don't tell me you can't get blood out of a turnip. I've seen Chuck Lake do it!"
