Obituary of Katheryne Maurine Rusher

Katheryne “Katie” Rusher, 61 of Sapulpa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Katie graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1981.  After graduation, she began working as a beautician. She bore her first child in 1991. She continued to work as a beautician until she bore her second child in 1995 when she became a stay-at-home mom.  She married James K. Rusher on October 18, 2003.  She began her long career at Wal-Mart in April of 1999, holding several different positions until 2016.  In 2018, she attended Community Care College where she graduated with honors.  In 2019, Katie began working as a house supervisor for persons with intellectual disabilities, where she took care of three of the most precious men, whom she always referred to as her “boys”. Katie loved and treated them as her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Rusher, parents Richard and Barbara Haley, and Father-in-Law Paul Rusher.

Katie is survived by her sons Blake Rusher and wife Valerie of Beggs, Dalton Rusher and wife Taylor of Bixby, and bonus son Gus Fielden and wife Cori of Sapulpa.  Brothers; Richard Haley of Tulsa, Pete Haley of Sapulpa, and sister Karen DeArmond of Sapulpa. As well as 10 grandchildren, Mother-in-laws Sarah Rayon of Sapulpa and Nita Rusher of Okmulgee, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Katie had never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. She was so giving and kind.  She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and doing puzzles. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.  Her grandbabies were her pride and joy and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.  She will be forever missed!

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 2:00 at The Way Church on 911 E Dewey Ave in Sapulpa.
