Obituary of Jeannie Carnes
Phyllis Jean “Jeannie” Carnes was called home on August 8, 2024. She was born February 4, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jeannie was raised by her Christian parents in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where her father Robert Greenwood worked for Phillips 66, retiring at the age of 65.
In 1959, Jeannie met Paul Carnes at Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, soon settling in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where they began raising their family. She loved the fact that she could be a full-time stay at home mom while the kids were in school waiting until their youngest graduated High School before embarking on her own career as a Nursing Assistant. She worked for St. Francis Hospital and Oral Roberts Hospital for many years. She was also a pillar in her home church, and always lent a helping hand. She loved her church family, prayer chains, Sunday School and listening to Pastor John sing; she couldn’t wait to go to church each week.
Jeannie loved southern gospel music, the Gaithers were her favorite. She also loved the country life, fishing, and boating, especially in their pontoon boat. They enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel camper with their many friends who joined them often in the mountains of Colorado. She also loved her house plants and flowers. A Monestary Delicioso she got 60 years ago in Florida, is still alive to this day.
Jeannie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel Greenwood, brother Bob Greenwood, sister Joanie Greenwood and grandson Joshua Randolph.
She leaves behind the love of her life, Paul Carnes of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, sister Jane McMillan of Waco, Texas, children Randy Carnes and Wife Jeanie of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, James Carnes of Dallas, Texas, Robert Carnes and wife Kim of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Nikki Randolph and husband Richard of Stevensville, Maryland, 10 grandchildren, over 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
