William Joseph “Bill” McLane

William Joseph “Bill” McLane of Sapulpa, Oklahoma was born August 1, 1945, in Springfield, Missouri to Charles and Maudie McLane. Bill was raised in Springfield and graduated from Central High School 1963. He enlisted in the United Stated Marine Corps directly after high school, serving in the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967. After serving his country, Bill settled in Sapulpa and married Roberta Gieb McLane on March 16, 1974. Bill started his career at the railroad in 1968 and retired from Burlington Northern/Sante Fe in 2005.

Bill was an avid golfer and never missed an opportunity to be on the golf course. He loved the sport of golf so much he decided to learn how to make golf clubs and became a certified golf club maker.

Bill went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maudie McLane; brothers: Robert, Maurice, Chris, Tom, John, and Mike; sister: Peggy Rowe; nephew: Michael Hereford; and nieces: Debbie McLane, Peggy Ownby, Katie McLane, and Sharon McLane.

Bill is survived by his wife and love of his life of 50 years, Roberta McLane of Sapulpa; sisters: Mary Garoutte of Reed Springs, Mo; Cathy and husband Dale Ownby of Hitterdale, MN; Rebecca Collins of Vian, Ok; brothers: Stephen and his wife Luanna McLane of Tulsa, Ok, and Timothy McLane of Wilton Manors, FL; and numerus nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Rosary will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Sapulpa. The Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A fellowship meal will follow at the church hall.
