Harold Glen Gilbert (H.G.) 73, of Mounds passed away Friday, September 17, 2010. He was born March 11, 1937 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to T.E. and Vivian Gilbert. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Peggy and Edwina Gilbert.

Harold served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and was Honorably Discharged in October 1964. He was the owner and operator of Gilbert Marine in Mounds for 52 years. He also worked for McDonnell Douglas, Department 406 and 635 for 25 years and he retired in 1994. He was also a retired Fire Chief for the Mounds Fire Department and a charter member of the Mounds Historical Society. Harold and his wife Jeanie, taught a small engine repair class at the Sapulpa and Drumright Vo-Tech campuses for 17 years.

Harold is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeannie; his daughter, Tracey Gilbert Armstrong and husband, Tim of Mounds; son, Tommy Gilbert and wife, Tracie of Mounds; mother-in-law, Betty Adams also of Mounds and brother, Tom Gilbert of Sand Springs; grandchildren, Tanner and Tobie Armstrong, T.J., Kassidy and McKenzie Gilbert. He was a stand in Dad and Papa to many. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was truly an amazing person and he will be missed by one and all.

Harold was taken to the church from the Mounds Fire Department on the back of Engine 1, followed by his family. Then after the services he was taken from the church to cemetery on Engine 1, where he was laid to rest with the Tulsa Fire Honor guard ringing the bell.

Funeral Services were held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the First Baptist Church Of Mounds. Burial was at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa. The Family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 918-224-2312,
