Obituary of GARY KING
Please share a memory of GARY to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary lived a life of great faith and generosity, a life of simple joys. He loved the Lord and his family dearly. He was especially proud of his three beautiful granddaughters. he was a very giving and generous man. he was also very strong, hardworking and loving. He learned that you should fill your life with music. Gary loved to play his guitar and sing. he loved to sing southern gospel music as well as country. He and his daughter, Melissa sang together in church on many occasions. One of Gary's favorite times was when friends and family would gather at the King home to fellowship and sing. So many times on Saturday night it would be standing room only at the King house. Gary loved working in his garden, fishing and woodworking. He loved working with his hands. most of the time he just enjoyed a quiet evening sitting on his porch. However, Gary did enjoy playing a practical joke every now and then. Gary had battled many illnesses on his lifetime, but was able to overcome them. He showed strength and love right up until his last days with us. He would not want us to focus on the sadness of his passing, but instead focus on the happiness still to come. he would want us to look at each other and appreciate what we have together and what we hope ke better and not morn his passing.
Gary would have loved to be able to get out of the house and visit with people but in the last 10 years he was always in so much pain from his other illnesses, that he chose to stay close to home. he did enjoy being around people. He loved creating thing and when he had it in his mind to do something, he would be 100% dedicated. He loved to tease people. He was a very simple man, but set in his way. He always made sure that Mary, his wife, was taken care of, no matter how he felt.
He always said that when he sang, he felt as if it were a ministry to people. A sermon that could not be preached. Music gave him a great joy. when his sister passed a few months ago, he was determined that he would be there to sing and play his guitar; as you know he did just that. while in the hospital in the wee hours of the morning the nurses would come in to find him singing and praying to the Lord.
