Obituary of HERSCHELL ROGERS

Herschell Ray Rogers was born on October 8, 1943 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Herschell and Ruby Rogers. He was the eldest of three children. Upon graduating from Fayetteville High School, Ray enlisted in the United States Army and served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a member of the Special Forces Unit. Ray was full of life and loved his family. He took great pride in coming up with special nicknames for his family members. Ray was a Finish Carpenter, a storyteller, loved wood working projects, and had a passion for books. Ray is survived by his wife Elaine; his three sons: Christopher Rogers of Springdale, AR, Jason Rogers of Sapulpa, OK, Daniel Burke and his wife Jennie of Riverside, CA; five daughters: Kelly Burke of Nottingham, NH, Colleen Hansen and husband Brad of Severna Park, MD, Erin Burke of Manchester, NH, Shannon Mayberry and husband Jay of Sapulpa, OK, and Caitlin Lierly and husband Mark of Glenpool, OK; 12 grandchildren: DJ, William, and Kasey Fulk, Christian, Ryan, and Megan Burke, Dylan and Garrett Hansen, Kylie Rogers, Brady Colgan, Rylan Lierly, and Madison Mayberry; brother Loy Don Rogers and wife Pearla of Lincoln, AR; sister Deborah Verser and husband Pete of Fayetteville, AR; three nieces: Tracy Verser, Kelly Washburn, and Chasity Verser; two nephews: Christopher and Lance Verser; five great nieces; five great nephews, one great-great niece and one great-great nephew. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Herschell and Ruby Rogers. As a great Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend; Ray has touched the lives of many people and will live in our hearts forever. Walk through those "Pearly Gates," and rest in peace.
