Obituary of VELORA COOK

Velora "Jo" Cook, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother departed this life surrounded by her children and grandchildren on March 16, 2011. Jo, a twin, was born November 9, 1920, being one of six children born to Guy and Estelle Fitzsimmons. She grew up in the Sapulpa area and graduated from Sapulpa High School. In 1940 she married Orville Rex Cook of Glenpool and they relocated to Kiefer. In the early years of their marriage she helped run their family grocery store, "Cooks Grocery" located in Kiefer. During those early years she was busy raising her four children and a niece, Pat who was the daughter of her twin sister, Shirley. In the 1960's jo worked for Miss Jackson's of Tulsa. Later she was co-owner of Crasco Oil Company and owner of Circle "C" Oilfield Supply. Jo has also been a member of Kiefer Christian Church for 70 years. Jo Cook is survived by her four children; Rex Cook and wife, Valerie of Mounds, Rita Pritchard and husband, Leon of Kiefer, Ruth Ramey and husband Lense Jr and Rebecca Littlefield and husband, Robert of Cleveland. She has eight grandchildren; Rex Cook III, Kaylee Shelton Brown, Lense Ramey III, David Shelton, Amie Youngblood Gibson, Brad Ramey, Karrah Youngblood, and Regina Cook. She has eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, most living in the area. They are Brittany Brown, Lindsay brown, Cory Cook, Derek Cook, Ellison Cook, Chelsea Acton, Mandy Ramey, Sydney Ralston, Cole Shelton, Lense Ramey IV, Lauren Ramey, Mackenzie Cook, Breanna Ramey, Alicyn Cook, Cheyenne Adams, Mia Adams, Chloe Beree and Landon Acton. Jo is also survived by a special niece Barbara Hembree and great nieces, Carri Adams Ralston, Brenda Ralston and Andrea Adams and their children. Also surviving Jo are brother-in-law, Don Cook and his wife Cleo and their children, Gordon Cook and Debbie Garner and many more nieces and nephews. Service will be 2:00PM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at The First Christian Church of Sapulpa with burial to take place at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
