Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald Henry Rice was born in Tenstrike, Minnesota, one of seven children born to Walter and Beda Rice. Don and his three brothers helped their father clear land and raise a variety of crops. The Rice family attended church regularly even if it meant traveling by horse and sleigh. All four boys were in military service during World War II. Don served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict as well. Don was employed for three decades as an engineer for North American Aviation. Don and his wife Melba have lived near Mounds since 1971. He has served the town as a member of the Lions Club, as a member of the Water Board and as a volunteer policeman. He is a member of the Mounds United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Melba; son, Greg Rice and his wife Barbara; daughter, Susan Jeffreys, her husband, John and their children, Daniel, Nicklaus and Madeline; sister, Marge Nelson and her husband, Earl; sister, Lois Pocock and her husband, Fred; brother-in-law, Reinhard Ohm; and sisters-in-law, Carol Rice, Ann Rice and Pat Rice. The family is requesting donations to the Mounds United Methodist Church or to the Mounds Fire Department.
