Obituary of Sandra Joyce Ishmael
Sandra Joyce (Fulks) Ishmael was born November 18, 1949 in Sapulpa, OK to William Wesley and Deloris Fulks. She transitioned peacefully from this life to her Heavenly Home on January 31, 2015.
Sandra married John Lee Ishmael on July 27, 1974. They were married for 33 years until his passing on November 22, 2007. Sandy, as she was known to her friends & family was a devoted caregiver for her late husband “Johnny” for nearly a decade before his passing. Her nurturing ways were often directed towards her entire family, as she spent several years as a day care provider or “Nana” for her grandson Brandon. Sandra worked for nearly two-decades as a Forms Management Service Clerk and retired from Ross-Martin Company/Corporate Express DPM in 1998. Sandy was a “country girl” and enjoyed all aspects of country living. She built a gazebo on which she hung her many collected wind chimes and loved watching the hummingbirds gather at her feeders, squirrels playing in the yard or the occasional deer wondering by. She was a definite “homebody” who immensely enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo and dominoes with her friends. Sandra was very “opinionated” and downright stubborn at times but she was also very loyal and had a generous nature.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband John Ishmael; her parents William and Deloris Fulks and her step-mother, Jessie Fulks. She leaves behind her son Jeffrey Swearengin and wife Tammy of Tulsa, OK; step-sons Richard Lee Ishmael and wife Rhonda of Sapulpa, OK and Jon Randall Ishmael and wife Jessica of Broken Arrow, OK; brother Donald Ray Fulks and wife Donna of Sapulpa, OK; aunt Nadine (Fulks) Gilbert of Sapulpa; aunt Sandra (Nichols) Mann of Tulsa and uncle William “Billy” Nichols of Sapulpa; grandchildren Shannon Ishmael Medlock; Erik Ishmael; Brandon Swearengin; Kylie Ishmael; Brett Swearengin and Kenedy Ishmael. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandra was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
