Walter E. Dansby Obituary On December 18, 1932, Andy and Ethel Dansby received an early Christmas giftthe birth of their third son and they named him Walter Eleck after both of their fathers. At the early age of three, they move from Ft. Gibson to Mounds, Oklahoma where he began his schooling at Mounds Prairie View, Oak Grove, Lynn Lane Community, Lowrance and Sapulpa B.T.W. High School. In 1953 he was inducted into the U.S. Army serving 2 years in Korea. In 1960 he earned a Bachelor's degree from Langston University. In 1961 he worked on his Master's degree at Oklahoma A&M which is now Oklahoma State University. He joined Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. T.J. Hale where he remained a faithful and dedicated member until his homegoing. He always said, "let the works that I've done speak for meI must live my funeral on a daily basisone day at time". He was one who couldn't say no to anyone asking a favor of him. At Calvary he served in many positionsmember of the choir, building committee, lawn caretaker, church treasurer, trustee chairman, Sunday school superintendent, district usher president, Calvary usher president and most of all a humble person serving in the army of the Lord trying to do His will. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. A longtime member of Prince Hall Masonry Fidelity Lodge #136 serving as worshipful master, junior warden, financial secretary, recording secretary, MBA secretary, chairman of awards committee (Oklahoma jurisdiction) and District Deputy Grand Master District #1. In May 1960 he married his one and only Roberta (44 years) who preceded him in his homegoing also; his mother, father, two brothersLloyd and Cornelius; and son, Jimmy Lee Hackney. He leaves to follow two sons, Bernard (Terri) Dansby, Andy Dansby; three daughters, Etta (Elmer) Pruitt, Katie (Andrew) McGoy and Toni (Gene) DeLong all of Sapulpa, OK; an adopted daughter, Anginetta Montgomery, Tulsa, OK; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Williams, Tulsa; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. On this journey he was called: Dad, W.E., Pa Pa, Sam, Grandpa, Walter, Uncle Walter by many, Mr. D., Deacon, Pops, Reverend, Daddyand he answered to all of them. Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sapulpa with Pastor Scott Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
