Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this time of grief. My hope is that the words of Christ Jesus be of comfort, when he stated that "the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" (John 5: 28, 29). We find this promise again at Acts 24: 15, so we are reassured that the day will come when we're reunited with our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death.

My "little brother" Oakley was born on September 16th, 1950 in San Diego California. He was the fourth of eight siblings.
He was a skinny little boy with a freckled face. He loved playing cowboys and Indians, our horses were wooden sticks. I always insisted on having the white horse and he would be riding the black horse. ( I was the good guy and he was the bad guy) Well, of course both stick horses were brown but we used our imagination. Marble's were always a lot of fun, drawing a circle in the dirt and dropping in his favorite ones. After losing too many to me, he soon learned if he didn't want to lose them he better not put his favorite ones in play.We made kites and spent many hours watching them soar. I will say that he was much better at kite making than I was. Zorro and Superman were two of his favorite TV shows.
I remember going to his little league baseball games. He was the best catcher on the league that year and I was so proud of his abilities. Of course I couldn't play because girls weren't allowed when we were kids. I did however get to keep score by hanging the metal numbers on the scoreboard in center field. That's the year our love of baseball began.
Elementary school had it's challenges for Oakley. He got picked on because he was such a little boy. My brother Dimps and I would take up for him and the bullies soon learned to leave him alone.
As we grew older the roles reversed. He was now protecting me. He continued to grow and grow and grow until he reached the height of 6' 4". He didn't reach his full height until he was 21.
Oak would come to California to visit me from time to time. We always had fun together. There was never a dull moment if he was around. He could always make you laugh, he never met a stranger and had a heart of gold.
My dearest brother "Big Oak" I am blessed and proud to say that you are my brother. My heart is broken, I will miss you terribly but find comfort in knowing that you are no longer suffering.
You will always remain in my heart, I Love You "Big Oak".
Your sister Linda
