Obituary of Oakley K. Shelton, Sr.

Oakley Kline Shelton, Sr. was born September 16, 1950 to Corbett Elijah Shelton and Jessie Aikens (Shelton) (Dixon). He left this world to go home on October 6, 2016 at 12:20 a.m. He raised three sons with Regina Faye Shelton (Slape). He was a hardworking man mastering the skills of Machinist and Butcher. He loved pool, fishing, boxing and the beach. He was known as a 6 foot 4 “Gentle Giant.” He is survived by his sons, Oakley Kline Shelton, Jr.; Virgil Dean Shelton; Jason Troy Shelton; and his brothers and sisters, Dimps Shelton; Linda Virgil; Corbett Shelton; Lawrence Fink; Donna McCoy; Diana Lytle; Karen Martinez; along with 12 grandchildren. God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around home and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched him and saw him fade away, Although we couldn’t bear to lose him we could not bid him stay. A golden heart stopped beating: Hardworking hands laid to rest. As we already know, God only takes the best. He was preceded in death by his parents Corbett Shelton; Jessie (Shelton) Dixon and stepfather Harold Dixon. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Monday, October 10, 2016 at Dripping Springs Baptist Church. Visitation is 1-8 pm Sunday at Green Hill Funeral Home.
