Obituary of Peggy Jean Bailey

Peggy Jean Adams Bailey Obituary

Peggy Jean Adams Bailey, 79, of Sapulpa Oklahoma passed away with family by her side on Monday, October 30, 2017 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Peggy was born on April 18, 1938 in Sapulpa Oklahoma.  She grew up in Kiefer Oklahoma where she attended grade school and high school, except for her freshman year at Sapulpa High School. She was a straight “A” student, graduating as Valedictorian of the Kiefer Class of 1956.  She was also freshman football queen attendant at Sapulpa and was voted Cutest Girl at Kiefer.  She was an outstanding basketball player at Kiefer and was a cheerleader.  She enjoyed her Home Economics classes, making many of her own clothes.

Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Larry Dayton Bailey, on June 30, 1956 at the First Church of God in Sapulpa Oklahoma where she faithfully attended and served,

Peggy loved to sing.  As a young girl, she sang in a family quartet that performed at singing conventions and even on the radio.  She loved playing hymns and played the piano at Church whenever needed.

Peggy loved sports, especially basketball, watching her son Randy and daughter Lisa play at Sapulpa High School.  She particularly enjoyed watching the 1979 Sapulpa girls, including Lisa, win the state championship. She continued to attend Sapulpa games until her health no longer permitted.  Peggy was also an OSU fan where both of her children graduated.  Friend vacations, including snow skiing, camping, golfing, and Branson shows, were among her favorite memories.

Peggy worked during high school, first at the Big Dipper Ice Cream Parlor, then at Southwestern Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator during her senior year in high school. Upon graduation, she worked many years at American National Bank in Sapulpa as a bookkeeper and teller.  She finished her working career at OG&E in Sapulpa as a cashier.

Peggy leaves us with so many precious memories--her bright smile, her love of her family and friends, and her love of God and her Church.

Peggy is survived by her husband Larry; son Randall Dean Bailey (Leann) of Terlton OK; Daughter Lisa Gail Clark (Terry) of Sapulpa OK; grandchildren Morgan Alis Burklow (Oakley) and Adam Dayton Clark, all of Sapulpa OK; brothers, Freddie Lee Adams (Kay) of Kiefer OK; William Ernest Adams Jr (Joyce); sister Carla Sue Lewis (Harold) of Yukon OK; Nephews Doug Adams, Michael Adams, and Curtis Bussett; Nieces Angela Dowdy, Carri Ralston, and Dr. Andrea Adams; extended family Brant Tevebaugh (Natasha) and Colin Tevebaugh;  sisters-in-law Vona McElroy and Lonnie Adams. Peggy was also looking forward to welcoming her first great grandchild, Kye David Burklow, in March.

Peggy was preceded in death by parents William and Irma Adams, brother Clyde Adams, nephew Casey Bussett, niece Brenda Adams and sister-in-law Pat Adams.

The family wishes to thank Grace Hospice and her caregivers in Heather Hall at Inverness Village for all their attentive and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Church of God Childrens Outreach fund to purchase Christmas gifts for local children in need.

Funeral Services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the First Church of God in Sapulpa. Final Resting Place – Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation is scheduled from 12-8 pm on Wednesday, November 1st at Green Hill Funeral Home.  The family has entrusted the services to Green Hill Funeral Home.  918-224-2312
