I was playing with my dog Max(which was a rottweiler)one day, and we played pretty rough together. I would push him down and he would jump back on me with his front feet and Shirley saw the dog doing this and she thought the dog was attacking me. She went to yelling and hollering because she was trying to get the dogs attention to get him off me because she thought he was going to kill me. I stopped playing long enough to explain to her what was going on and we had a good laugh about it. But it was nice she cared enough to try and save me. I will miss her because she was a good woman.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. I pray that your emptiness will be filled with the sweet-sweet memories Shirley gave to each of you. I pray that you find comfort in knowing that she was welcomed by rejoicing souls whenever she reached the gates of heaven. I am certain the choir is still singing and the heavenly party is still ablaze since That Glad Reunion Day! Peace, love, and hugs to you all.

When I was 5 or 6 Shirley had my present from her under the Christmas tree and I kept begging for her to tell what it was,of course she wouldn't, when I asked what color it was she said binky burple. I asked everyone what color that was and no one could tell me.On Christmas morning when i opened my present it was a Dino from the flintstones. I asked her if that was what binky burple was and she told me she thought it looked pinkish purple, but thought that might give it away. So to this day when i see something that color i call it binky burple.

I remember Shirley and I shared the love of digging old bottles, she went with me over the hills and through the woods between Kiefer and Sapulpa to go dig old bottles. I never got any of the girls to go with me except Shirley. Kim may have went a time or two. We tracked all through the woods to find our treasure. This was after I had grown and married Rick. We had a great time. I also remember Shirley's famous chili and potato salad. I looked for that potato salad every holiday. It was the best ever!!!

Every day after school, Taylor went to mom and dads until I could get off work. It was a nightly ritual for the past couple of years that when Taylor was walking out the door, her Grammy would yell out "Later Gator!" and Taylor answered "After 'while crocodile!!" The morning that mama passed away, I told Taylor that if she could have said one last thing to her it would have been "I love you babydoll," followed by "Later Gator!" Taylor agreed. . . .

I am so very sorry for your loss. There are no words that can comfort you at this time. Please know that there are many of us who are praying for you at this time. Our families go back a long ways - when my Dad and Mitch used to ride to work together, going to school at Kiefer, Misty and Shelley being best friends. May God give you peace, comfort and strength at this time. There are many around you who are offering prayers for your comfort each day.

When I was little I used to get to spend the night with Dave and Shirley and she used to fix me corn on the cob. I was there one time and I didn't see any and made the comment I want my corn on the cob. I always got it after that. I love you Shirley.

Mom found out on Jan 10th that she had cancer. It was a fast moving, aggressive form and she decided against chemo. She told us, "I dont want to get sick from chemo and I dont want to be burned with radiation, so Im gonna let God handle it." In doing so, our Heavenly Father answered our prayers in letting her just fall into a deep sleep, and giving all of us time to say our goodbyes and tell her how much we loved her. She could still hear us. When the time came, she went so peacefully, and the sun shone brightly in through her window as if God were smiling on all of us. I thought of one of her favorite songs, "The Sun's Coming Up In The Morning." God really gave us a gift that day, and all through our lives, in our Mother. I love you mama, and we will meet again on that golden shore, someday soon!!

Dear Family, We know your hearts are full of sadness at the loss of your dear wife, momma, sister and friend but also with joy with the knowledge that she is "Teaching Angels How To Sing"!! May you be comforted knowing that her journey is now complete and that Heaven is now a little sweeter because your own precious angel is there. May God continue to comfort and heal your hurting. You are loved!!!
