To the Mathis family, My name is Julia and I knew Caitlyn from Boys and Girls Club at Tahlequah Middle School. She was a very nice person and touched a lot of kids at our school. She was funny and always there for everybody. Sometimes I helped her with her B&GC team, and she was a really good coach. I will keep you all in my prayers and will always remember Caitlyn.

Caitlyn was a wonderful room mate to my Granddaughter, Hannah. My heart is heavy knowing you have lost a daughter, sister and leaving a host of friends to mourn with you. I did not get to meet her, but I know the Franklin's loved her. Hannah's Dad said, "she was one of those precious free spirited girls that never met a stranger, never left anyone out." Our Heavenly Father will keep her forever close. She is safe.

To the Mathis family: My heart is deeply saddened by this catastrophe. As a member of the WPX Energy family, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace. When I had to face the loss of those so deer to me, I found shelter in God's promise in Revelation 21:3-5. May His mighty love dwell within you and rest assured that God does not break His promises.

David, Julie, Justin & Conner, We are very sorry for your loss. Caitlyn grew up while we watched her grow from Little League sports to High School sports and then to the Kiefer Home Coming Football Attendant in Coley's Junior year. She was a precious little girl and grew up to be a beautiful young lady. We are so sad her life was taken at such a young age. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. Love, Danny & Roberta Hazen

Caitlyn Brooke Mathis was a star. Her sense of practicality, her willingness to serve others, and her uncanny ability to embrace everyone was a rare combination. Caitlyn never had to boast about her Christian faith because she exemplified the principles of her faith through her daily journey. She was kind, supportive, and accepting. It was comforting to have Caitlyn as a friend to our daughter, and our hope is that your family will find some peace in knowing that Caitlyn was a role model and an example of how to embrace the precious time we have together with family and friends.

Julie I just heard the news from Kathy Lewellan. I am without words to express my thoughts at this time. Just know that I and the many others want you to know we are thinking of you and your family at this time. It is hard to understand why such things happen in life but they do. All I can tell you is look to God to give you the strength to endure when you are down. The Bible tells us he loves us and is there for us. All we need to do is seek him and you will find him. He is the only one that can give you peace in times like these.

I remember going to tournament after tournament, wondering who that sweet, poor girl was who was ALWAYS taking the entry money. She was ALWAYS there, and ALWAYS helping.
Then, we decided to attend Kiefer schools, and she took in my daughter, Katie, under her wing at Adair basketball camp. Katie was just an 8th grader, but Caitlyn made it to where Katie was accepted and received with open arms, like a protective big sister.
On the first day of school, the cheerleaders were out front cheering in everyone...and Caitlyn saw Katie and Kyle getting out of my car, and she ran over and gave them hugs and such a sincere welcome, I almost cried.
Always giving, always loving, that is Caitlyn's legacy. God bless the Mathis family.

Caitlyn has been my basketball coach the last 2 years at Tahlequah Middle School,B&GC team. She is the best basketball coach I ever had and was like a big sister to me. She took me to watch my first college basketball game, the NSU Lady Riverhawks, just a few weeks ago. I will never forget that game and the fun we had. I had so many good times with Caitlyn and she will always be in my heart. To Caitlyn's family, my heart is broken with yours. May you find joy and comfort in knowing how Caitlyn touched my lfe and I will never, EVER foget her. She was a beautiful person and I am proud to say she was my friend. Everytime I step on the basketball court, I will think of her and the love of the game she and I shared. I love you Caitlyn. Forever friends....

As a parent my heart aches for you as you face what is every parents worst nightmare. I am also in awe of the impact that Caitlyn had on everyone she met. One thing I always appreciated about her was that she loved everyone regardless of race or social status. People love Jesus because he first loved us and people love Caitlyn because she first loved them. I can't think of a better tribute to someone. I sit here at 50 years old and realize how much that I and so many others like me can learn from the life of this beautiful young woman and how we should all stive to let our light shine, smile and first and foremost love others first just as Christ first loved us. Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts that she has touched and I challenge everyone that she touched to live their life as she did, to the fullest, always smiling and always giving friendship and love away freely while always setting an example for those whose paths we cross. May God give you a peace beyond all understanding as you go forward. Much love and prayers. Sheila & Charles Harless
