Obituary of Fred Lee Marchant

Fred Lee Marchant of Jenks, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in Grace Living Center with his family by his side.  He was born September 10, 1922 in Canadian, Oklahoma to his parents Joseph Ephram Marchant and Mary Josie Marchant.

Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife, R. Louise Marchant.  He is also survived by his two daughters, Sharman Marchant of Sedona, Arizona; and LuAnne Winett and husband Don Winett of Jenks, Oklahoma; 4 grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

Fred was proud to have served in the U.S. Army from 1940 until the end of World War II in 1945.  He survived the invasion of Normandy, landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day + 1.  He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries and two Bronze Stars for meritorious service.

As per Fred’s request, due to outliving his friends and contemporaries no funeral will be held.  Fred so appreciated the help he received from the Veterans Administration so in lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Fred was a member of First Christian Church.  He was a dedicated husband, father and provider.  He was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.  And once again we want to thank Fred for his service to our country while serving before and during World War II.
