On your first heavenly birthday, we too are heartbroken ...
My dad Errol, is Sylvia's first cousin on the Wortman side; both their dads were brothers. I never had the opportunity to meet my granddad as he died in WW11, when my dad was a young boy. Unfortunately as well, my dad and cousin Sylvia never met in person in this lifetime, for reasons beyond their control. We were blessed though, that Sylvia with her passion for genealogy, found us through my daughter Alexis a few short years ago, and we've been in touch ever since.
My dad told me what he will miss most about cousin Sylvia, is her infectious laugh. He loved to hear her laugh and treasured their phone conversations more than cousin Sylvia probably realized, and he wishes there had been many more. My father felt a kindred spirit with cousin Sylvia that has left him truly heartbroken.
I have felt that same kindred spirit from my first conversation with cousin Sylvia. Both of us are Pisces who share a love for sunflowers, and I know she's dancing among the sunflowers in heaven. The same day cousin Sylvia passed, I received a gift of two beautiful, hand crocheted, sunflower throw pillows. My friend was not intending to give me the gift that evening, and he hadn't known cousin Sylvia had passed earlier that day. I believe it was a sign from cousin Sylvia.
May our memories, tears, laughter and love of cousin Sylvia (a beautiful, one-of-a-kind soul, larger-than-life lady, who is missed so deeply by so many) help us on the road to mending all of our broken hearts. Amen
