Officer Zamudio was a wonderful father and an all around fun guy. When I was a teacher at Freedom he used to come knock on the window of my classroom while I was working late in the evening. He enjoyed scaring me each time and he would tell me it was late and time to go home. Often, he would wait in the parking lot to make sure I got in my car safely. He will surely be missed.

My heartfelt condolences for the entire Zamudio family; especially my two precious grandchildren who lost their Daddy much too soon. "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace"

My funniest memory of Stephen had to be around Christmas 2003 when our parents were working so we went up to Oklahoma to stay with family. He was about 25 years old and a new police officer. I was 13, Lissa was 11, and Heather was 1.5 years old. We were all at the mall together and Stephen was shopping for some Christmas presents. As we all do when shopping with a baby, he threw the items into the basket of the stroller as we perused the department store. Suddenly one of us girls had to go to the bathroom and he rushed to the other side of the mall to avoid an accident. It wasn’t until after that he realized he left the store without paying for all the merchandise. Lissa and I were freaked out that we would get in big trouble!! He just smiled, assured us all would be okay because he’s a big time polic officer in town, walked back to the store and paid for everything, and smiled the biggest smile. Now that I have 3 kids, I can relate to how he must have felt that afternoon at the mall taking care of his 3 young cousins. Thanks for the memory.

I remember fondly when Stephen brought his family here to San Antonio for one of Jaxson’s Soccer tournaments & i went to watch a game with them. Stephen always had a big smile & hug for everyone. He didn’t have a “mean bone” in his body as they say. He was also dearly loved by his Grandma, Ruby Zamudio who loved having him & Carrie visit often. You are forever loved & missed.
