Obituary of Stephen Anthony Zamudio
Stephen Anthony Zamudio, 44 of Glenpool, passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2023. Stephen’s Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church in Sapulpa, OK at 2:00 pm with Tom Dugan of Green Hill Funeral Home Officiating. There will be time allowed for a sharing of memories.
Stephen was born on May 23, 1978 in Midwest City, Oklahoma to David Mark and Dana Jean Zamudio. He graduated from Ada High School in 1996. At age 16, in 1995, as a member of the Explorers he was able to go to the Murrah Building after the bombing and volunteer to help with clean up. This experience fueled his desire to become a police officer. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from East Central University in 2001. He had a great deal of pride in being a police officer and retired as a Captain from the Sapulpa PD after 20 years of service. His most cherished time was being a K-9 officer with his partner Wes.
Stephen’s favorite hobby was fishing. He fished wherever he could. He enjoyed ponds, lakes, camping, hiking and also loved visiting the beach. He was a Drillers Baseball fan and loved going to the games. He had well rounded taste in music that he learned to appreciate through his dad. He especially enjoyed classic rock but also tried to see Manheim Steamroller each Christmas. He liked watching football on the weekends and he was big on traditions, specifically surrounding the holidays. He attended Christmas Eve services and went to see the lights at Rhema with family. He also enjoyed the Christmas Train. He loved Will Ferrell movies and Elf was a favorite. He adored his Hey Dudes, perusing Deluth Trading Company and his “Sam Sam” shorts from Sam’s Club.
Stephen is survived by his son Jaxon Zamudio; daughter Sara Zamudio; parents David and Dana Zamudio; sister Carrie Dell’Accio and brother-in-law Peter Dell’Accio; niece Marissa and nephew Gabriel; as well as a host of friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents David and Ruby Zamudio of Ada, OK, Woody Dee and Shelba Hardin of Seminole, OK; and his beloved partner Wes. Stephen will be missed and his memory will be honored and cherished by family and friends.
