When I think of Aunt Mary, it's reminds me of happy childhood memories. The reunions, getting ice cream at the drive-in, I always loved to see her beautiful smile.

Mary and Lee Edward were two of my favorite people. They always had love to give and make you laugh.
Every summer my grandparents would take me with them to go to Oklahoma. I always wanted to stay at Mary and Lee Edwards house. Most of my days and nights were spent there for our trip but Grandma would always say you can’t stay for the whole trip you have to visit other family.
Some of the best times were going to Lee’s drive in while they were working. I loved the chili cheese burritos. Mary taught me how to make the ice cream cones just right. I remember one time Mary left me at the house while she ran to the drive in for a short time. The weather was bad with an electric storm and she told me whatever you do, don’t answer the phone the lightening can come through the phone and the tv so leave it turned off. For a born and raised girl from California I thought that was the craziest thing I ever heard but I knew she was serious.
Mary was a great cook and we had fun baking in the kitchen often when I was there.
Mary will be truly missed. Hugs and comfort to you all with much love.

Lee and Mary taught me how to work and made making food for people FUN. So much fun that I chose that for my life’s work. Mary raised 2 Great Sons and knew just how much rope to let us have but let us get into too much trouble. One of my favorite memories is the time we took Lee’s new white Galaxy 500 “1965” new for a test drive one Sunday afternoon when we knew we were safe because Lee and Mary were at the Drive Inn. Guess what when we got back from our joy ride we raised the garage door and there was Lee and Mary. We didn’t do that again. Mike and Benny your parents were wonderful people. It hurts so much because we loved them so much. Comforting thought we will see them in Heaven. Praying for your families to have comfort and peace.

Like most Sandites, I first met Lee and Mary through Lee's Drive-In in Prattville. I was just a little girl but you never forget how people treat you when you're a kid. Their warmth and friendliness never diminished over the years. Heartfelt condolences to Mike, Kathy, Benny and Terri and their families. RIP dear Mary.
