Obituary of Mary Alice Blair

The life of Mary Alice Blair was filled with love, laughter, family and friendship. She left this world on February 3, 2023 at the age of 92.

 

Mary was born in Vinita, Oklahoma to Bennett and Rheva Armstrong on November 7, 1930. After graduating from Cleora High School as valedictorian in 1948, she attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and received her Associates degree After college she and her parents moved to Tulsa where she worked as a switch board operator for Southwestern Bell.

 

Mary met the love of her life, Lee Blair, through a blind date. They married on September 6, 1952 in San Diego, CA where Lee was stationed while in the Navy. They shared 58 wonderful years together. Lee and Mary ended up making Sand Springs their forever home in 1966 where they raised their two sons: Mike and Benny.

 

Together, Lee and Mary owned and operated Lee’s Drive-in, a hamburger joint that provided Sand Springs with great food and even greater memories. They were both very active in their community through service at First United Methodist in Sand Springs as well as numerous car clubs. After they retired, they loved to travel Whether it was by plane to places like Hawaii, or by classic car to numerous car shows, or by cruise ship to places like Alaska, they always had amazing stories to share.

 

Mary was not only a doting mother, she was a loving and proud grandmother and great-grandmother and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, respect, love and laughter. Mary is survived by: Mike and Kathy Blair; their daughter Laura and husband Mark Daney; their son Michael and wife Erin Blair; grandchildren; Hunter & Mason Daney and Grace & Henry Blair. Benny and Terri Blair; their daughters Crystal and husband James Hendricks, Sami and husband Brian Cooper, Mandi and husband Caleb Gordon; grandchildren: Alex & Bree Hendricks, Arlo and Charlie Cooper, and Birdie Gordon.
