Obituary of Gladys Marie English

Gladys Marie English (Davidson), 79, of Mounds, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 01,2023.  Born on January 11, 1944, in Richmond, California, she was the oldest of six children.  Gladys has three children, two sons, Brian, and Brent, and one daughter, Brandi.  She was also blessed with a bonus son, Troy.

Gladys was a strong, independent woman.  She joined the United Stated Marine Corp in 1962. After graduating basic training, she was stationed in Quantico, Virginia. After leaving the Marines she moved back to Sapulpa, Oklahoma where she met her husband, Tom English. They were married on August 18, 1968, in Hillsboro, Texas.  Gladys continued to ‘serve her country’ by being a rural mail carrier for the United Stated Postal Service. She retired on January 10, 2004, with 24 years of service.  Gladys was always busy. She always gave 110% in all she did, from Boy Scouts, serving in the church ministries, the Mounds Senior Citizen’s, and countless others.  Gladys was willing to help at a moment’s notice.

Gladys is survived by her husband, four children, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister and brother. She is preceded in death by her parents, J. Davidson, and Dora Bell Stuart, four sisters Bonnie, Connie, Beverly and Jeannie.

She will be laid to rest in Kellyville, Oklahoma at the town cemetery.    

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 6 at Green Hill Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 7 at Green Hill Funeral Home at 10 a.m.
