I worked at a grocery store in Sapulpa and that is where I met Roger. We become good friends, he was liked by everyone and hes was a hard worker. I am a better man just having Him as a friend! I know where he is now and that,s Important.,
Looking forward to seeing him in Heaven, A real place with real people. Praying for the Family, God<s Blessing Always

Such a great man with a caring soul. Loved to see him and Mrs. Lierly at many of the athletic events cheering on their teams. He was a great teacher, coach and friend. He will truly be missed and never forgotten. Prayers to the family.

Follower of Christ, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Coach, teacher, friend, and the list goes on and on. Coach was many things to hundreds, if not thousands of people. I dare say all would have a great memory or fun story about their interaction with him, he was just that kind of man. He will be missed; I miss him already.

I am very fortunate to have grown up with an uncle like Joe Bill. I have never met another human being that lived as Jesus would in the way that he did for others. He is king of the dad jokes, never missed an opportunity for a prank, talented in numerous disciplines, and as genuine as he presents. I never had to question where he stood or what he stood for. I could talk to him about anything and trust that it was just between us. I have adopted many traits of him into my life, but especially in coaching. As I reflect on his legacy, it is easy to see the core values and principles behind the philosophies that made him so successful as a coach. Empathy and respect were everything to him. He never lost sight of them and kept them at the heart of his programs. He coached kids and pushed them to their peak potential when they were ready, but never forgot that they were kids. It is a dance that takes massive patience and understanding of the greater goal. He was the best to ever do it. The greatest standout of his character was his tranquility. I have been around him for 46 years and I have NEVER seen him lose his cool or be truly angry. I have so much respect for all of the Lierly men, and Joe Bill is huge part of the reason. Joe Bill is an exemplary human being, and a model for us all on how to live the right way. I will miss him on this earth, but I know that heaven’s call was his job well done on earth.

Joe Bill Lierly was one of the most intelligent, well spoken and witty individuals I have ever met. I took Zoology in High School only because he was the teacher. He also made Jury duty a few years ago less miserable because even in my 40’s he was still the teacher and I the student. Rest easy, you have shaped several generations of Eastern Oklahomans that will not forget you.

Wonderful man. Lived as a great example. I know students loved him. He taught both my sons in Sunday School and was part of there education at Kiefer. . You can just tell when a person is doing what the Lord has called them to do and educating young people was his calling. He will be missed. Scott Breland
