Obituary of Gary Duane Brunk

Gary Duane Brunk, a US Marine Corps veteran and a mechanical engineer passed away on August 14, 2024 at Arbor Village in Sapulpa, OK.  Gary was born November 14, 1940 in Wichita, KS to Duane B. Brunk and Juanita I. Brunk. He was raised in Hutchinson, KS and attended Hutchinson High School, Junior College, and Hesston College. In 1959 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Marine Aviation.

In January of 1961 Gary married his high school sweetheart Janice Marie Hoffman who preceded him in death.  They celebrated 60+ years together and enjoyed many Caribbean Cruises and traveling together. Together they created and raised a family of four children that he was very proud of, all who survive him.

He is survived by children Kevin A. Brunk, Hayden, AL; Christine A. Brunk Vanek, Fremont, NE; Michael A. Brunk and wife Lisa, Shreveport, LA; and Darryl A. Brunk and wife Janet, Tyrone, GA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Andrea Six and husband Brad, Cayleigh Hanson and husband Chas, Harrison Schow, Samuel Brunk and wife Maddie, Kate Brunk and

Laurel Brunk, along with 6 great grandchildren.

He spent his life in engineering, designing machinery and automated equipment, along with sales engineering, where he traveled to many foreign countries for installations.  His favorite pastimes throughout his life were working with the Boy Scouts of America and the Order of the Arrow with his 3 sons, playing Senior Softball, playing music on his Mountain Dulcimers, as well as working on his various antique cars, and/or attending various car shows with Janice with their award winning Zimmer.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled at 2 pm on Friday, September 20,2024 at Green Hill Funeral Home. Services are in the care of Green Hill Funeral Home.
