Obituary of NANCY MCDONALD

Nancy Lou Mayes was born September 18, 1944 in Joplin, Missouri to Donald and Margaret Mayes. She went to be with her Heavenly Father (and Grits and Gramps) on Friday, August 6, 2010. Nancy completed all of her schooling in Joplin and graduated from Joplin Business College. She met and married Ray Bender in July 1967. They moved to Virginia, where Ray was stationed in the Air Force. In August of 1969 they had their one and only child, Veronica. When Ray was discharged from the Air Force they moved and started their life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nancy was an avid antique collector, which started as a hobby to make extra money for Veronica's musical endeavors. She could be found at garage sales, Canton or the Tulsa Flea Market every Saturday morning. She became known as "Fancy Nancy" among her vendor friends and from her estate sales. She had many dogs over the years and they brought much joy to her life. In her later years she met Harry McDonald, a fellow antique dealer. They were married on her 50th birthday in 1994. Nothing brought her more happiness than when Veronica had two boys, Remi and Ramsey. She was a silly grandma to both. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Margaret Mayes. She is survived by her husband, Harry; her daughter, Veronica and Danny Underhill; grandsons, Remington and Ramsey. She is also survived by her sister, Judy and Jim Manley; niece, January and Lane, their children, Jentry and Nathan; two nephews, Jimmie Don, his son, J.D. and Jerry, (and also her sweet dog, Sweet Pea). Nancy had a multitude of friends and will be missed more than words can say. We Love You Nanny.
